I recently completed my Ph.D. in Biotechnology in January 2024 at the University of Aveiro, where I specialized in the valorization of Opuntia ficus-indica for high-value applications in food, nutraceuticals, and cosmetics. My academic background also includes a master’s degree in Biotechnology (2017) and a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry (2015) from the University of Aveiro and the University of Porto, respectively. I am currently a Research Assistant at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, focusing on sustainable wastewater management and bio-product development. Throughout my career, I have authored 10 peer-reviewed journal articles as the first author and contributed to collaborative publications, reflecting my active engagement in advancing scientific knowledge. I have also delivered 20 oral presentations at national and international conferences and presented eight posters showcasing my research to diverse audiences. My expertise spans multiple disciplines, including Agricultural Sciences (Agrarian and Food Biotechnology), Environmental and Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, and Industrial Biotechnology. I have worked extensively with advanced methodologies such as high-pressure processing, ultrasound and microwave assisted extractions, chromatography (HPLC, GC-MS, and ICP), nano- and microencapsulation, and thermal processes. My work has also extended to fermentation technologies and the design of sustainable packaging solutions, contributing to innovations in environmental engineering and circular economy practices. I have had the privilege of collaborating with leading research institutions and industry partners, combining my technical skills with interdisciplinary approaches to address environmental challenges and promote resource-efficient solutions. My commitment to sustainability and innovation continues to drive my efforts to create impactful scientific and industrial advancements.
