Biography

Rui Magalhães earned his B.Sc in Biochemistry with a specialization in the Food Industry from the University of Porto, Portugal, in 2005. He furthered his academic activities by obtaining an M.Sc in Food Science and Technology from the School of Biotechnology at the Portuguese Catholic University in 2008. In 2016, he successfully completed his Ph.D. within the same institution, exploring into the investigation of the persistence of food-borne pathogens in food and food processing environment. His expertise be placed in microbiology, with a focus on the development and application of methodologies for the detection and typing of microorganisms. Since 2016, Rui Magalhães has been actively engaged as a researcher at CBQF (Centre of Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry) and holds the responsibility of managing the Cell Culture and Molecular Biology Platforms at CBQF.
