Biography

Sandra Borges has a degree in Microbiology at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, a post-graduation in Clinical and Forensic Analytic Toxicology at Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto and a PhD Degree in Biotechnology at UCP. She has expertise in guiding several ungraduated and graduated students in areas such as food engineering, biomedical engineering, microbiology, biotechnology, genetic, among others. Her research work generated three patents registrations and two awards by “Hospital do Futuro” and “XIII Congresso de Nutrição e Alimentação”. During the academic path she also developed novel products such as: probiotic formulations for vaginal infections, biomaterials for wound healing, probiotic juices and disinfectants.
Currently, she is a post-doctoral researcher in CBQF, where the R&D lines are the development of new products based on hydrolysis of proteins obtained from animal by-products.
