Biography

Sandra Borges Tavares holds a PhD in Youth, Media and Memory Studies from King's College London University (Department of Culture, Media and Creative Industries). She has been an invited Assistant Professor at the Portuguese Catholic University since 2023. Between 2016 and 2018 she was a doctoral researcher and graduate teaching assistant at the Department of Culture, Media and Creative Industries, at King´s College University. In 2015 she was awarded a grant by the International Olympic Committee, to conduct her doctoral research in Brazil and the UK. She is a member of Núcleo de Investigação em Práticas e Competências NIP-C@M, at the Department of Communication Sciences, Autonomous University of Lisbon, and an invited peer-reviewer for the Journal of Youth Studies. She is also a member of the Portuguese Literacy Association for the Media and Journalism and a Research Member of the Digital Media Nation Project (CEcomp - FLUL). Her main research areas are Youth, Media and Citizenship, with a particular interest in the role of memory around youth identity construction.
