Biography

Susana Ganhão-Arranhado is a Specialist in Clinical Nutrition. She has a degree in Nutrition Sciences from the Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde Egas Moniz. In 2012, she completed her Master's Degree in Palliative Care at the Faculty of Medicine of Porto and a PhD in Gerontology and Geriatrics, with a specialization in Geriatrics, from ICBAS-University of Porto and is attending a postgraduate degree in Nutrition in Oncology from the Catholic University of Portugal. She is a high education teacher and certified trainer and currently is the coordinator of the degree in Nutrition Sciences at Universidade Atlântica. She develops her activity in Clinical Nutrition, namely in areas such as geriatrics, artificial nutritional therapy, long-term care, palliative care, cerebral palsy, malnutrition and wounds, being the coordinator of the ELCOS wound working group. Currently, she integrates several national and international projects, namely: PROGRAMMING (COST ACTION CA21122), aiming the definition of the content of educational programs on basic principles of care of older people, destined for professionals non-specialists in GM and adapted to the local context, the needs and assets of stakeholders and the pragmatic possibilities of involved settings; CaregIVR Project (Cardiovascular health promotion: the impact of immersive virtual reality), aims to empower informal caregivers and vulnerable people, increasing their literacy on cardiovascular diseases and promoting the development of quality skills in the provision of care to post-stroke patients, through innovative strategies such as immersive virtual reality; and the DemenPrev Project, an interdisciplinary intervention study for the primary prevention of the disease, with an impact on the community, in an area of great relevance, aging and dementia.
