Biography

Teresa Weinholtz is pursuing a doctoral degree in Culture Studies at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) in Lisbon. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Studies (2019) from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, with her Bachelor’s thesis focusing on the literary study of Victorian crime fiction. She graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Book Science: Editorial Studies (2023) from the same university. As a part of her Master’s programme, she gained professional experience in the book publishing sector through an internship and subsequent working student position at a publishing house in Munich. Her Master’s thesis centred on the study of the materiality of the digital artist’s book, a topic which she is further developing as a part of her doctoral project in Culture Studies. During her Master’s programme, she participated in a one-year international graduate student exchange at Saitama University in Japan, where she studied the Japanese language, culture, literature, and art. Currently, she is a member of the Critique, Conflict and Cultre research cluster at UCP’s Research Centre for Communication and Culture, where she conducts PhD research with a focus on contemporary artists’ books and the relationship between their materiality, artistic practice and cultural context. Her main research interests lie in the intersection of literature, culture, and the contemporary arts.
