Biography
Verena Lindemann Lino is a FCT funded post-doctoral researcher at the Research Centre for Communication and Culture (CEEC Institucional UIDP/00126/2020) and an invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) in Lisbon. She holds a PhD in Culture Studies from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany (co-tutelle program within the realm of the European PhDnet in Literary and Cultural Studies). She obtained her MA in Translation Studies at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, her BA in Modern Languages at Universidade de Lisboa and her B.Sc. in Psychology at University of Hagen (Germany). Her PhD thesis combines the analysis of contemporary artistic negotiations of the refugee presence in Portugal in the 1930s and 1940s with a theoretical reflection about the cultural dimensions of memory in the context of migration, exile and flight. She is the author of Remembering World War II Refugees in Contemporary Portugal (2021) and co-editor of Negotiations of Migration (2021), among other publications. Her main research interests include Transculturality, Migration, Memory Studies, Translation Studies, Portuguese Studies, Cultural Analysis and Comparative Literature.
