Biography

Viviana Ribeiro is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Centro de Biotecnologia e Química Fina (CBQF), Universidade Católica Portuguesa, specializing in the development and validation of decellularization protocols for animal tissues, repurposed from the food industry, for clinical applications. Her work focuses on biomaterials for skin regeneration, particularly using rabbit dermis as an agro-industrial by-product. Her scientific innovation is reflected in 5 granted patents. She has authored 27 publications in scientific Journals in the field (>Q1), 8 book chapters, 2 Journal Special Issues and 72 publications in international/national conferences (31 oral and 41 poster presentations). She also participated in 29 international/national scientific meetings in the field. Being corresponding author in 18 publications in important scientific Journals (>Q1) and books, she collaborated with >60 authors. With an h-index of 18, her proficiency resulted so far in more than 1500 citations (Source: Google Scholar) by more than 900 citing articles (Source: ISI WoK). She is reviewer for more than 30 International Journals in the field (>Q1) and some with high IF (e.g. ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering). Her contributions bridge sustainability with biomedical innovation, advancing regenerative medicine. Viviana Ribeiro has played a key role as project leader in major research projects such as ReSkin, FENIX (2023.07374.CEECIND), STAR-SKIN (2023.11204.PEX), and ALICE (2024.05237.RESTART), contributing to groundbreaking approaches in tissue engineering. She has also been invited as a professor in a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering, mentoring students in scientific dissemination and knowledge transfer. Her expertise in biocompatibility assessments, biomaterials development, and decellularized matrices positions her at the forefront of innovation in tissue engineering and wound healing.
