Apontamentos sobre a esperança em escritos literários e num dado rito cristão

Project Details

Description

The fundamental goal of this project is to understand how hope is represented in literary writings within the context of the Judeo-Christian religious tradition in Western societies. By correlating the analysis of both language and biblical images inscribed in works of literature, on the one hand, and the religious Christian rite Washing of Feet, on the other hand, the research will seek to demonstrate that the cultural expressions of the Christian religious character can go far beyond religious practices alone: they can be found in the Arts, in ideas, thoughts or in personal experiences. In particular, the project is sustained on Northrop Frye's claim that biblical narratives are part of the Western culture and that Bible and literature continuously interact with each other through intertextuality, throughout time.
