Project Details

Description

This project studies Catholic youth movements in Portugal. There is a general absence of sociological or anthropological studies on Catholic youth movements in European Catholic countries, including Portugal, at least recently, and of recognized scholars. Therefore, this project aims to fill this gap, building an extensive and global picture of these movements and their members. There are two main objectives. First, to quantitatively characterize Catholic youth movements in Portugal. Second: to quantitatively characterize its members in terms of religiosity, socialization, conversion, and sociability. To achieve these objectives, two questionnaire surveys will be applied to all movements: the first survey, applied to the respective coordinators; the second survey, applied to members. The study will employ a methodological triangulation strategy to effectively achieve the objectives if resources are available, meaning that qualitative techniques, such as interviews, will be used to complement quantitative analysis.
