Project Details

Description

The project “Emergent Literacy in Preschool”, funded by the Erasmus+ program, is sustained by literature that has systematically demonstrated the importance of emergent literacy for children’s motivation to read and write, and for the subsequent school success. After training sessions enabling the sharing of scientific bases, experiences, and joint reflection, both preschool teachers and parents/caregivers will be given the opportunity to collaborate and implement strategies that promote preschool children’s emergent literacy.

The project is coordinated by the Agrupamento de Escolas Penafiel Sudeste and holds the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Portugal), the Akademija za sovremeni edukacii PRO SCIENTIA (Macedonia), and the Istituto Comprensivo Statale Federico II di Svevia (Italy) as partners. At the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, the project counts with the participation of Professors Íris Oliveira, Ana Costa, Cátia Marques and Paulo Dias.

After articulation in Portugal and with the partner countries, the phase devoted to the training of educational agents got started. Particularly, on May 6th 2024, the first training session with preschool teachers from the three countries took place. The team will remain involved in additional training sessions and joint work meetings throughout the project, until 2025.
