Project Details

Description

The emigration boom to Europe, which began in the late 1950s, significantly extended this phenomenon to the whole country for the first time. The spread of the phenomenon throughout the territory, combined with the proximity of new destinations and the possibility of communication, led to significant changes. The changes in the composition of rural and urban demographic structures were notable, and the change in socio-cultural systems was profound.

The study was coordinated by Mário F. Lages Mário, with Carlos Laranjo Medeiros, Ana Maria Campos Leal, Rogério Roque Amaro, Mário Baptists Coelho, Jorge Carvalho Arroteia, Paulo Filipe Monteiro and José Nunes Martins acting as researchers.
