Actively contribute to the development of the strategic plan of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Health (CIIS) and Universidade Católica Portuguesa, aproved for the years 2021-2025 with the following responsibilities:
i)Establish an independent biomedical research laboratory within the framework of the Unit's mission and strategic plan;
ii)To obtain intramural and extramural funds to support a research group, from national and international funding agencies;
iii)To produce scientific publications frequently, in medium/high impact peer-reviewed journals;
iv)To supervise, train and support postgraduate students from start to completion;
v)To participate actively in regular Faculty meetings, and regular in-house scientific seminars;
vi)To contribute actively and periodically to Public Engagement activities.
2030 Agenda: This project aims to address Goal 3 for Sustainable Development: “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages” with a particular focus on Goal 3.3: “By 2030, end the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases and combat hepatitis, water-borne diseases and other communicable diseases”. These goals are in line with the objective of the project to establish an independent research group focused on biomedical and translational sciences with particular focus on infectious diseases, namely tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, for the discovery of novel drugs, identification of new biomarkers, development of new biotechnological models for disease study and improvement of current vaccination strategies.
