Description
HSoil4Food aims at fostering the sustainability and resilience of agricultural production systems through the combined use of biotechnological tools, such as bioinoculants, and sustainable agronomic practices, and promoting cultivating legumes for improving soil health whilst improving nutritional status and diets of the populations. HSoil4Food will contribute to the design of resilient biodiversity-based agroecosystems with key crops, such as vineyards, legumes and horticultural products, integrating technical and socioeconomic aspects with sustainable agricultural practices, and incorporating technological aspects (use of bioinoculants, amendments), food safety (pathogens), environmental and health rikas (antibiotic resistance), and legal and socio economic aspects. To foster successful adoption of such sustainable soil health management practices towards promoting biodiversity, and a more prosperous and more secure future, another major objective is to establish a cohesive and robust bridge between farmers, producers, and consumers. Partial objectives were identified as 6 work packages:
1) Environmental and socioeconomic challenges in farming practices;
2) Risks and benefits of biofertilization and & amendments in sustainable practices;
3) Legume based systems for soil health and crop valorization;
4) Understanding consumers and farmers selfperception about their behaviors as a driver for the soil sustainability;
5) Nutraceutical value of olive oil from healthy soils and its bIoactive constituents on lipid profiles and human microbiota;
6) e-Kit: Education for Healthy and Sustainable Consumption.
