History of the Congregation of Servants of Our Lady of Fatima

Project Details

Layman's description

The present project assumes three great objectives:
a) - To make the history of the Congregation of Servants of Our Lady of Fatima (SNSF). To this end, we propose the development of archival research that will result in the publication of a book on the History of the Congregation of Servants of Our Lady of Fatima . From the Origins to the Present Day.
b) - To foster historical research on the Congregation based on its archives and the gathering of oral testimonies. Within this context, and in order to create the conditions for historiographical reflection to continue and deepen, it would be desirable to create a (full or partial) scholarship to support a doctorate that has as its theme some aspect of the life of the congregation.
c) - Deepen the study of female religious Orders and Congregations in Portugal in their specificity, highlighting the pioneering role of the SNSF in certain sectors, of which the following are examples: the question of the habit; the role of the press; the priority given to the education of girls; the valuing of the priestly and apostolic dimension; community life; the affirmation of female leadership in the Church and in society; among others. In this line, the possibility of holding a Colloquium on this subject is envisaged.
