Project Details
Description
The OralTherm aims to assess and validate, together with the visitors of Vimioso Thermal Baths, the applicability of thermal water (TW) in promoting oral health through the development of a thermal-based oral hygiene solution and the creation of a thermal product that combines therapeutic indications of classical balneotherapy with oral health and well-being components. The project consortium brings together distinct yet complementary expertise: UCP-CIIS has experience in studying the relationship between the oral microbiome, molecular biomarkers, and oral health; AquaValor has capabilities in characterizing the bioactivities of TW and formulating well-being products; Protermas possesses extensive know-how in thermal therapy; the Municipality of Vimioso has solid knowledge of the impact of TW on local and regional sustainability. The incorporation of innovation in the TW sector is expected, based on the generation of scientific knowledge, along with the promotion of socio-economic development in regions where TW resources exist.
