Organization and description of the Historical Archive of Cáritas Diocesana de Lisboa

Project Details

Description

This project aims to organize and describe the Historical Archive of Cáritas Diocesena de Lisboa.

The planned actions include:
• Defining the conditions for the rehousing of the documentation, in accordance with best conservation practices;
• Archival description and classification, including administrative and custodial histories, following national and international standards (ODA, ISAD[G], ISAAR[CPF]), in order to produce information retrieval tools such as guides and inventories.

The project ensures the safeguarding of documentary heritage through scientific coordination and technical advisory support, providing an archivist to carry out an initial archival assessment. This process will result in an inventory of documentation to be preserved, the preparation of a preliminary classification scheme, and the identification and recording of documentation to be disposed of. With a duration of four months, the project strengthens the preservation of institutional memory and contributes to the enhancement of Religious History in Portugal.
