Description

As part of the preparatory work for the Education System Reform undertaken by the Ministry of Education, particular importance was attached to drawing up study plans and preparing proposals for syllabus content for primary and secondary education (1st to 12th years of schooling), taking into account the provisions of the Basic Law on the Education System and discernible trends in the general direction of future developments in Portuguese society.

The complexity of the study required, as a condition for success, that it be supported by a very agile administrative, financial and logistical infrastructure compatible with the large number of specialised tasks to be commissioned and contacts to be established, both in Portugal and abroad.

In this context, given CEPCEP's experience in project management and its status as a non-profit organisation, the Ministry of Education entered into a contract with the Centre to support this study.

The study was coordinated by J. J. Fraústo da Silva and Manuel Tavares Emídio, with researchers Luís Fernandes Bom, Clarisse de Sousa Mendes, Brigitte de Sousa Thudichum, José Adalmiro Dias de Castro, Manuel Maria Carrilho, Maria Laura Caetano, Belmiro Gil Cabrito, Ana Maria Dias da Rocha, Venâncio Augusto Gomes and Maria Alice Oliveira Pais.
