Project Details

Description

The Taxation & Future Project aims to analyse and discuss the most important tax policy issues that we will face in the coming decades. The aim of the project is to provide public decision-makers and the community at large with a clear idea of the main options for reforming the Portuguese tax system, taking into account the economic and social challenges that the country will face in the near future.

The project is conceived not as a general diagnosis of the system, but as an "in-depth" work, isolating a number of key issues and discussing reform options, constraints and consequences.

The Taxation & Future project is divided into several policy papers, focusing on issues that involve choices of major importance in the medium term, such as attracting and retaining talent; technology; competitiveness; and ageing.

The project is coordinated through the Católica Research Centre for the Future of Law and developed by a multidisciplinary team combining law and economics, with researchers from various universities in Portugal and abroad.
