Project Details
Description
The major innovation in this project is to introduce and apply a robust, cost-effective and environmentally friendly on-site technology, namely constructed wetland (CWs), for wastewater purification in tourism facilities (TF), which because of the seasonal operation, provide a challenge for the wastewater treatment process. There is an urgent need to implement more efficient wastewater treatment from such facilities as well as to be able to reuse the purified wastewater for e.g. irrigation purposes. Although the CW technology is potentially robust and tolerates seasonal loadings, the biological and physicochemical processes underlying the treatment processes are not completely understood. Hence, more research and optimization is required to be able to produce design guidelines for CW for TF.
