Abstract
The evolution of medicine and the increase in average life expectancy has led to an increase in the elderly population and to the emergence of chronic diseases. Being elderly with a chronic illness implies a change in lifestyle and the use of medication. Aim: To identify nursing interventions that promote adherence to the therapeutic regimen in the elderly with chronic diseases. Methods: Systematic review of the literature, selecting 5 articles, published between 2010 and 2015, found in electronic databases, with a critical evaluation of the results. Results: The initial evaluation of the elderly with chronic illness, health education and inclusion of the elderly and significant people should be aspects included in the nursing intervention. Conclusions: The intervention of the nurse as a privileged actor, together with the elderly with chronic disease, is essential for adherence to the therapeutic regimen.
