Abstract
The use of the specific terminology of Flat Geometry and Spatial Geometry is present in the curricula of Basic Education in the subjects of Mathematics and Visual Education and Visual and Technological Education in the middle school and in the disciplines of Descriptive Geometry in high school. The aim of this study was to survey existing terminology in Portuguese Sign Language in officially recognized dictionaries and in school context platforms where specific themes of this area are addressed. After the survey, an analysis of the gestures found was made. Relationships were established regarding the phonological parameters of the hand configuration, the similarities and the differences in the configuration of the hands used, both in the production of gestures related to two-dimensional concepts, and in the spatial concepts where the three-dimensionality of the Descriptive Geometry were introduced.
