Abstract

The critique that the young Marx addresses against religion, in general, and against the ontological argument, in particular, constitutes a point of intersection between the Marxian philosophy and Michel Henry's radical phenomenology. On the one hand, by rejecting the notion of a transcendent God as well as the rational proofs of his existence, Henry's interpretation of Marx refutes all critiques of religion that lie in the sphere of pure rationality. On the other hand, from this hermeneutic of Marx arises a conception of a religiosity based on the notion of a pure immanent God.
