Abstract
This study examines teachers’ experiences and perspectives regarding the integration ofinformation and communication technologies (ICT) in elementary school. A mixed-methodempirical study was, therefore, conducted. The sample included 52 participants of mean age 40 years old (SD = 8.36), 41 (78.46%) women and 11 (21.15%) men. Data was collected using apaper-and-pencil questionnaire. Quantitative data analyses were performed with the StatisticalPackage for the Social Sciences (IBM SPSS, version 21 for Windows), using descriptive andinferential statistics. Qualitative data analysis was also employed, using categorial contentanalysis. The quantitative results suggested that teachers’ ICT training influences its use onpedagogical practices. On the other hand, qualitative results identified teachers’ perceivedadvantages and disadvantages of using ICT on pedagogical practices. This study sustainsreflexivity about the ICT potential to enrich pedagogical practices in elementary school andconcerns to acknowledge in its application.
