Abstract

Sister Lúcia’s request to consecrate the world and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary had a slow response. The request was founded on two realities that required particular attention: it was a request stemming from private revelations and, for the purpose of putting it into practice, was asked of the Holy Father, in communion with the bishops of the entire world, called together to this end. Mentioning Russia in the act of consecration raised delicate issues of diverse kinds. The various consecrations that were carried out, eight, reflect the understanding that the popes have had of the request that was directed to them. They made a good job of articulating the dimension of consecration of current religious practices with the consecration requested, which has been brought about in an atmosphere of prayer.
