Abstract
Objective: Teamwork is paramount in palliative care and an effective leadership is expected as well. This paper aims to identify and to analyze the literature regarding nursing leadership in palliative care. Methods: Integrative literature review using international electronic databases. Results: A total of 56 results were identified and after the critical appraisal the sample was composed of 10 papers. All written in English, published in nursing scientific journals, mostly from the USA and the UK, published after 2000. The level of evidence is low because the majority was news reports and opinion papers. Conclusions: Nurses are highlighted as palliative care leaders, agents of changing with a particular role on multidisciplinary teams.
