Abstract

Can democracies save themselves and promote the integral development of people, organizations and communities? How can we learn to live together in the context of such a profound crisis? John Dewey taught that the cause of democracy is the moral cause of the dignity and worth of the individual. Pope Francis reminds us that we are brothers and that we should not consider each other as an enemy or an adversary to be eliminated. It shows us that integral development is one that integrates all people in a Culture of Encounter and dialogue, in a Lifestyle that is governed by Mercy as the fundamental political category.
