Abstract

This article examines the role and impact of the investigative reporting on the ministerial dismissal in Portugal. To that end it offers an examination of the quality daily and weekly press reports which led to the resignation of a leading minister of the XIII Constitutional government, António Vitorino, holding key portfolios. This study ultimately aims at addressing and validating the watchdog role of the quality press in scrutinising the politics, assuming itself as a factor in sacking those with posts in the Office involved in wrongdoing.
