Abstract

Colonial radio in Angola: parties and raffles to buy the transmitter is a book about the radio that was heard and made in Angola during the colonial era, from the start of shortwave broadcasting by Emissora Nacional (1936) to the country's independence (1975). Over time, broadcasting followed various paths: programs sent from Lisbon, the constitution of government radio in Luanda, and radio clubs, these were composed of non-profit associations in the various cities of the colony, and, on the whole, organizations directed towards ideological choices that almost ignored the population of african origin, seen as a group to be educated or simply subversive.
