Abstract
The People's Republic of China and the United States of America have been and continue to be in a difficult and unstable relationship, either for being in opposite sides during the Chinese Civil War, Korean War or even in Vietnam. Despite their economic interdependency, China’s Re-emergence represents a challenge to the hegemony of the United States, mainly in the Asia-Pacific region. Hence, the main goal of this study is to debate the challenges posed by the re-emergence of China, its repercussion in the United States foreign policy, and how it is perceived by its Asia-Pacific neighbours.
