Abstract
The purpose of this article is to understand the technological rationality within the context of the Federal Technological University of Paraná. Unique in the country under that name, the majority of its courses aim at training engineers in Brazil. Along with this training we include the study of the aesthetics, as an alternative argument, by assuming its significance in the social training of the subject as an emancipatory dimension generated by the movement of creation and technological innovation and which today is left in the background within this context. This article results from the review of Marcuse, Adorno, Horkheimer, Habermas and Rancière’s ideas, which address the referred themes according to the perspective of the individual´s autonomy as opposed to the normative and technocratic interpretations of society.
