Abstract
Do we still need interfaces? The interface is a system or a device through which non-related entities can interact. Our purpose is to study the current condition of the interface, regarding it not only as a relational space that gathers features of the entities it relates, but also as an entity in itself with its own features. The interface entification is accomplished by its inscription in spacetime. This inscription connects the interface to the notion of experience and, consequently, to that of mediation. 2 Through the media theory, especially the media dematerialization, we observe the possibility of overcoming the interface: we test the hypothesis of its progressive disappearance, since they seem not to be needed anymore; and we also test the inverse hypothesis of its growing importance, because this disembodiment implies that the media are able to penetrate and to be penetrated by human experience, through interfaces, even if imperceptible ones.
