Abstract
review and problematization of demographic variables applied to the research reception of television fiction - gender, age group, geographic region - in the face of metrics and indicators of engagement and influence used to elucidate the production of content generated by fans of television fiction on social networks. The use of automated methods, the use of monitoring tools that help the collection and observation of this content, often detaches from practical research activities the reflection on input conditions prescribed in the algorithms as well as resulting categories in the software outputs that facilitate the composition and mining of databases from keywords. The objective is to propose a discussion about variables and new metrics applied to the study of transmedia reception.
