Abstract
Biographical study of António da Conceição Neves Cardoso (1816-1879), born and died in Mansores (Arouca), blacksmith, emigrant in Brazil and paradigm of the so-called “Brasileiro torna-viagem”. After several years in Rio de Janeiro, where his second daughter was born, he returned to his homeland, where he built a house of considerable volume and architectural quality, sponsored the construction of the first local school building and was a local benefactor. His wife and six minor daughters survived him.
