Abstract
The purpose of this article is to contribute to the further consolidation of the academic literature regarding the Ombudsman Offices and their role in social pacification, a matter of relevance due to the Judiciary’s search for methods to encourage conflict resolution through extrajudicial means in Brazilian society, but still lacking in the literature available today. The method used in this work is the deductive, and the means of research is bibliographical, based on legislation, doctrine and other academic works that explore similar subjects. In the body of the present study, we sought to conceptualize the Ombudsmen and their work in the current scenario of jurisdictional provision, as well as its historical evolution, from Greece to Brazil. As well, its function can increase to provide better efficiency as the social pacification.
