title = "Biomimetic coatings incorporating bisphosphonates aiming to inhibit bone resorption",
abstract = "The effects of the biomimetic coatings incorporating bisphosphonates (BP) to inhibit bone resorption were investigated. The material used was a biodegradable blend of corn starch with ethylene vinyl alcohol that was injected moulded into the shape of disks. Aliquots of 50 μl of solution of the BP were added to the coatings followed by drying at 60°C. The cells were found to adhere and proliferate on both the non-BP and BP containing coatings. The results show that BP was successfully incorporated in the structure of a biomimetic apatite layer formed by a sodium silicate process, without compromising osteoblastic activity.",
