Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the overload of family caregivers. In order to do so,
the relationship between the degree of dependence of the dependent elderly and the level of overload of the caregivers is analyzed. The methodology used is based on a questionnaire to the caregiver, on the Caregiver Overload Scale and on the Barthel Index. The results show that the first line of support is found in the family, where constant care leads to an increase in overload, which depends on the number of hours that the caregiver provides to the dependent elderly, as well as on the informal support he himself receives.
