N2 - Oral-health clinical records in a computorized format are increasingly being adopted in dental schools with the objective to improve office efficiency and operations, diagnosis and treatment and patient communication and perception. However, computer pacient records only cover the information of paper-based records partially. The aim of this research was to evaluate the contents of paper-based clinical records of a dental medicine specialty (removable prosthodontics), of national and foreing dental schools, in order to develop a Baseline Prosthodontic Record (BPR), and compare it to the school's records in paper and in an electronic format. The data recorded allowed us to establish a Baseline Prosthodontic Record with 14 categories and 266 parameters distributed by these same categories.A review of the paper and the electronic-based records with the BPR shows that the former contains, on average, 49.5% of the parameters of the BPR, while the latter contains only 26.7%.
