Abstract
Starting from a particular case (an embassy of Japanese Christians sent to Europe in 1582 with the inten-tion of presenting obedience to the Roman Pontiff), this article aims to analyze the contact between the European and Japanese cultural realities in context of the Jesuit presence in Japan in the second half of the sixteenth century.
