Abstract

In the coming years, a significant challenge facing educational systems is the training of principals capable of addressing the problems arising from each school context. Modeling is essential to facilitate managerial development, and consequently, the use of life stories of school principals can be useful. The objective of the present investigation is to present the process of elaboration of 19 Portuguese públic school principals’ life histories carried out by a group of researchers. The objectives, methodology, phases of the research, results, and elaborated products are discussed. Life stories, life histories, cases, vignettes, or lists of good practices are products derived from the research. All these products can be used in leadership programs and contribute to the improvement in the training of school leaders.
