Abstract
Creativity and tourism have been playing an increasing role in the development of cities and are considered two of the best instruments to achieve that goal. This role has to do with the possibility of exploring and benefiting from their endogenous resources. This paper tries clarifying the potential role of creativity and tourism in Ponte de Lima development. With that aim, we begin it with a short discussion of the concept of creativity, and the characterization and evaluation of Ponte de Lima tourism resources. In a second moment, we analyse the view kept by the local/regional actors regarding its tourism strategy. The secondary information used was collected from several sources. Besides that, we conducted interviews about the research issue to 13 local and regional agents. The idea behind this research was to give a contribution to the implementation of a more sustainable and efficient tourism strategy in what concerns the Ponte de Lima case. For that, based on the results we got from the interviews and the general analysis developed, a few recommendations are produced.
