Abstract
In this paper, we analyze the feminist perspectives in criminology, particularly, the discourses on women, crime and gender. It starts with a broad view of the feminist contributes to the construction of knowledge and then a historical review of the emergence and consolidation of feminist perspectives in criminology is presented. It discusses in particular the feminist argument that the social construction of gender has an impact on the life trajectories of women who commit crimes, and is reflected in the formal and informal response to such transgressions. Finally, it analyzes the main criticisms of feminist authors towards the traditional criminology discourses about women and crime as well as the feminist proposals for the reconstruction of such discourses.
