In a globalized society, capitalist culture prevails, exertng infuences also on the religious phenomenon. In Brazil, one of its refexes is the pentecostal growth, which enters its third phase from the 1970s. Thus, this artcle analyzes the expansion of new pentecostalism movement and its implicatons with the crises of modern narratve and historical Protestantsm. The analysis takes place in an interdisciplinary perspectve, embracing authors from Sociology (Bauman, 2008; Fukuyama, 1992; Ianni, 1993), Theology (Libanio, 1999; Nilbuhr, 1992) and Religious Sciences (Bingemer, 2000; Bitencourt, 2003; Cunha, 2007). It concludes by highlightng how new pentecostalism fnds in postmodern values, sustained in the liberal view, intense value to the market and consumpton, fertle land for its sowing and strengthening, forging a community of believers who, unlike the previous Pentecostals, rejoice with material riches, not just with the blessings of future eternal life
