Abstract
The ministry of education of Mozambique launched, in 2003, the third curricular reform of basic schooling, aiming to connect schools and the communities and to introduce a local curriculum at schools. The introduction of the local curriculum intended to enable the community to participate in the schooling of children through the identification and integration of local knowledge. In that sense, in this research we try to understand how the community is actually involved in the identification and integration of local knowledge and which strategies are being used by schools so that community can actively participate in this process. The research consists of a multiple case study. In conceptual terms we have defined as key concepts school organization, participation and curricular development.
