Abstract
D. Juan by Molière has been immensely popular for several centuries; this archetypal figure has been revived and staged many times in various Western countries. The purpose of this article is to present, in a summary and chronological manner, the stage revivals of the directors Jean-Marie Villégier, Kuniaki Ida, Ricardo Pais, Joaquim Benite, Luís Miguel Cintra, Pedro Gil and finally António Pires in Portugal, showing that, despite the long periods of “silence” between performances, D. Juan is still relevant and successful.
