Abstract

Objectives: To demonstrate the importance of differential diagnosis; to demonstrate the efficiency of the treatment of a category 3 pressure injury. Method: Clinical case of a 65-year-old female patient with 2 lesions in the perianal region, each measuring 24cm2. Results: After 4 weeks of treatment with ensyme alginogel®, the lesions had completely healed. Conclusion: Pressure injuries are an adverse event and undoubtedly pose a challenge for healthcare professionals and institutions. Differential diagnosis is essential for deciding on treatment and preventing future injuries.
