Abstract
This article aims to (re)think the processes of production, circulation and reception of news content as a critical resource in the construction of gender and sexuality identities. We analyzed three news as object of study, through the lens of the Critical Feminist Discourse Analysis (Lazar, 2007), as well as the readings and discussions about these texts collected during the Think tank held at the "International Colloquium and Summer School Gender, Communication and Activisms", at the University of Coimbra. This is an exploratory research and uses the deconstruction of news as a strategy to reflect on the naturalization of gender and sexuality stereotypes present in journalistic publications. Through this exploratory research, which uses the deconstruction of news as a strategy to reflect on the gender naturalization and sexuality stereotypes present in journalistic publications, we identified the systematic symbolic annihilation of women, in the terms proposed by Gaye Tchuman (2009), in/from the news.
