Abstract

A single-channel flow injection analysis (FIA) system for the pseudo-titration of chloride in soils was developed using a tubular silver ion selective electrode with a homogeneous crystalline membrane of Ag2S as potentiometric detector. This system allows the determination of chloride in soil extracts from 1 to 100 ppm. The results obtained for 15 soil extracts are in good agreement with those provided by the classical procedures with sampling rates varying from 60 to 160 determinations per hour with good precision (relative standard deviations lower than 4.8%).
