Abstract

The reconfiguration of nursing education, in recent years, led to a new constitution of the faculty. Understanding the professional reconfiguration process of Nursing Teachers in the various academic areas in Portugal is the purpose of this investigation. This article aims to determine the accessible population: full time and under an exclusive dedication regime Nursing Teachers in Portugal. The study, conceptually framed in the Sociology of Professions and the Professional Identity of the Teachers in the educational itinerary, aims to know the distribution of teaching faculty in the various academic areas. The data collection occurred in two phases and was conducted by the instrument: “Teacher’s file”. The results point to a distribution with higher expression in non-integrated establishments. The most expressive professional category is the Deputy Professor and the academic degree with the highest representation is Master. In the advanced training, a training plan seems to be absent, but in its place is found an individual strategy.
