Abstract

Laudato si’ points to the crisis of a civilizing paradigm, which can also be seen in a certain disappearance of aesthetic sensitivity, and thus indicates the relationship between an appropriate aesthetic education and the preservation of the environment in order to resist a contemporary utilitarian pragmatism. This paper aims to explore the elements contained in the social encyclical and in the perspective of Pope Francis that can corroborate a theological aesthetics of the Common Home. In particular, these elements relate to a notion of interconnectedness with all things and their intercultural and ethical consequences, respectively in the culture of encounter and the culture of care.
